Replacing old screen that has old large round spline


I’m trying to replace the screen on a old aluminum patio. It has large round spline that pets keep pushing out. I would like to replace with pet screen but I’m unsure what size or type of spline to purchase. I will attach a picture of the old spline.

From your picture it looks like the spline is close to 3/16" or .1875 inch diameter. The closest round spline size I have to that is .215 inch diameter.

If the spline is loose now it will be tighter with petscreen because petscreen is much thicker than regular screen cloth.

If you can get your hands on a small sample of petscreen you should roll the old spline in and see if it holds the cloth in reasonably tight.

That should prove if its ok to use the same size. If its still loose you might need to go up to 0.250 inch diameter but I am thinking this wont be the case.
