Piston Pin Pops Out

My screen door has been working well for several years, opening and closing as it should. However, recently each time the door is opened I notice that the pin progressively moves up out of the hole until it eventually pops out leaving the door to swing freely. Any idea on what is causing this to happen and how to remedy the problem? Thanks.

Hi Joe;

The pin should have hole in it for a spring clip that stops it from popping out. Perhaps the spring clip has fallen off. You can use a piece of wire to replace the spring clip. Or if it has been several years since the cylinder has been replaced you could replace the whole cylinder assembly. The kit should come with new pins and clips
