Installing Screen Door Top Track

Hi,

It looks like your top channel is just the thing to fix my broken old vinyl screen door channel. I have a few questions:

Can I cut down the 6' length to size with a hack saw, I need just under 70" total?

If I have to replace the sliding screen door is one of the adjustable height doors on the market (one where you adjust the top portion with a sliding panel with set screws). If not do you have a recommended replacement model? I think the old door (78.75" tall) is going to be too tall to fit in your top track due to the .305" profile on the middle track It was a tight fit with the old super thin plastic channel). I am going to have 78.75" less the 0.305" after mounting to work with.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris;

Yes you can cut the track with a hacksaw. The best way is to clamp the track to a worktable with some of those dollar store plastic clamps so that you can make a nice clean cut.

The center rail in the track might mean you have to cut the screen door shorter. If the screen door has 45 degree miter joints you can use a hacksaw with a miter box and the same dollar store clamps to shorten the door.
